Join the Safe Homes online community!
Our Discord Server is open to all Safe Homes participants to join us from wherever is convenient for you! This is an online space monitored by Safe Homes staff where youth can chat with each other, share fun content, and join weekly virtual drop-ins.
How to Join
All youth interested in joining our Discord Channel must email safehomes@openskycs.org to receive an invitation link.
Rules of our Discord Channel
- Respect everyone’s identity, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, and any other personal characteristics. Discrimination, hate speech, or harassment will not be tolerated.
- Keep the space drug and alcohol-free. We want to maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
- Maintain confidentiality. What is discussed in Safe Homes should stay in Safe Homes. Do not share anyone’s personal information without their consent.
- Be mindful of the space and equipment. Treat everything with respect and report any damage or issues to staff.
- Practice consent. Always ask for permission before engaging in any physical contact.
- Use inclusive language. Avoid using slurs or derogatory language that may be hurtful to others, even if you use this language outside of Safe Homes.
- Support each other. Safe Homes is a community where we uplift and empower each other. Let’s build each other up, not tear each other down.
- Communicate openly and honestly. If you have any concerns or issues, bring them to the attention of staff or a Youth Advisor. If you feel unsafe or you have needs that are not being met, bring this up to Otto or Oscar.
- Respect personal boundaries, including (but not limited to) if someone asks you to stop a behavior or conversation. This also includes the boundaries of staff members and Youth Advisors.
- Take care of yourself and others. Safe Homes is a place for self-care and healing. Take care of yourself, and support others in doing the same.
